Your music when you want and where you want

myCDRack was created to make just that happen, your digital music when you want to listen to it and where you want to listen to it. myCDRack eliminates all of the technical issues necessary for catloging your MP3 files, searching your collection, creating playlists and most importantly hosting music streaming from your home computer with a high-speed internet connection.

The secret is the software.
myCDRack server is a small but powerful application that you install on your home computer. This single application is all you'll need to organize and share your digital music library over the internet. And of course it is all safe and password protected so only you can access your music files. Download the application now and see for yourself how quickly and easily you can configure everything and be immediately streaming your digital music across the internet.

Setting it all up is a snap.
Just follow along with these simple configuration instructions and you will be up and running in no time:

IP Address: myCDrack will take care of tracking this. Every computer on the internet has a unique address know as its IP address. It is the only way for other computers to find your computer and request streams of your digital music. This value can change from time to time as your high-speed internet provider updates its network but don't worry, myCDRack will make sure the world knows your new address.
Port: The default here is set to the standard HTTP port used universally by all the well known web sites like Google.com and MySpace.com. It would probably be best to stick with this default unless you understand port numbering. If you use a home network router you should also know that you might have to configure your router to allow access for this port and direct it to the computer running the myCDRack application.

User Name/Password: This is the username and password you created when you set up your account. If you have not set up your account yet, you may do so by clicking here.
Folder With MP3 Files: This is the root folder where all of your MP3 files are located. In order for this to work, all of your MP3 files must be at or below this folder. You can't have folders all over your harddrive. At this time, the system only works with MP3 files also. Sorry, but we don't have a hack for iPod and other proprietary formats.
Rescan: From time to time you will probably want to update your MP3 files adding new ones, deleting some or even updating the tag information that we use to track artist, album name, etc. After making changes, you should click on the Rescan Now button in order to force a rescan of your MP3 files from your root folder and below. The rescan will also report this updated information back to our central server.
Start Server: This button will activate the mp3 streaming server. Only when the server is started will you be able to listen to your mp3 files from any computer in the world. The status window will display status messages while the server is operating.
Stop Server: This button will shut down the mp3 streaming server and stop the ability for you to listen to your mp3 files.

A status message will always appear at the bottom of the server letting you know the current state of the server.
Advanced Feature Audio re-encoding is an advanced feature that while somewhat technical makes the myCDrack server extremely powerful. Because most of the mp3 files you have ripped from your CD collection are probably encoded at a high, cd-quality, bit rate, even the most common high speed internet providers might not support an upstream rate to sustain streaming these files. In addition, when you're listening from your laptop at the coffee shop or your office PC, you don't need the cd-quality sound nor do you want to use up the high bandwidth for listening at that rate. The solution is to re-encode your files on the fly at a lower, sustainable, bit rate from your home computer. In order to achieve this though, your computer must have a piece of free software installed that can do this. The program is called LAME, (jokingly, Lame Ain't a MP3 Encoder). To learn more about this program and to download and install a copy for yourself, click here.
Once you have the program installed, merely tell the myCDrack server which folder you installed the program to and select the re-encoded bit rate you would like to stream your files at. A good bit rate would be 48Kbit which will still provide you with full stereo and good quality sound.
